DBM coordinating with agencies for Davao quake assistance

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) is coordinating with other national government agencies to facilitate necessary emergency assistance to individuals affected by the magnitude-7.4 offshore earthquake in Davao Oriental on Friday.
Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said the DBM will continue to monitor the situation and respond accordingly.
The tremor hit Manay town at 9:43 a.m. A tsunami threat was issued but lifted at 1:43 p.m.
“Kami naman po sa DBM, sa utos po ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos, we will make sure na sa oras ng emergencies o kalamidad, maglalabas po ang pamahalaan ng sapat at kinakailangang tulong para walang patid po ang serbisyo ng frontline agencies na nagpapatupad ng relief and recovery efforts (We at the DBM, on orders of President Bongbong Marcos, will make sure that in times of emergencies or calamities, the government will release sufficient and necessary assistance so that the services of frontline agencies implementing relief and recovery efforts remain uninterrupted)," she said in a news release.
She instructed all DBM offices to get in touch with the Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and Office of Civil Defense to identify how to extend support to the response efforts.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology raised another tsunami alert at 7:12 p.m. following a magnitude-6.8 aftershock.
Residents in the coastal areas of Surigao del Sur, Davao Oriental, and Surigao del Norte were ordered to evacuate to higher grounds.
Reports citing Davao Oriental Governor Nelson Dayanghirang said at least three were confirmed dead in Mati City.
Local authorities also monitored destruction of houses, bridges, and other structures. (PNA)
