Thousands of job seekers aspiring to build careers in the tourism industry gathered on Thursday, Oct. 9, for the opening of the 4th “Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso” job fair jointly organized by the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
The annual job fair, held at the SMX Convention Center Manila, aims to provide more employment opportunities in tourism while strengthening the country’s workforce through the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence program.
Representing DOT Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, Assistant Secretary for Tourism Development Planning Christine Joy Cari said the event underscores the government’s continuing efforts to make tourism a key driver of inclusive growth and sustainable livelihood.
“This flagship initiative of the Department embodies our commitment to nurturing a tourism workforce known globally for world-class Filipino hospitality,” Cari said in her keynote address.
The three-day fair, which runs until Oct. 11, gathers more than 50 participating employers offering a wide range of positions across tourism and its allied sectors.
Employment opportunities are available in hospitality, food service, and wellness industries—fields regarded as vital to the sustained growth of Philippine tourism.
Organized in partnership with Global-Link MP Events International Inc. and in collaboration with DOLE, the event also supports fresh graduates, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) scholars, and displaced workers seeking new employment opportunities.
Cari noted that the job fair coincides with the 16th Hotel and Foodservice Suppliers Show and the Beauty + Health and Wellness Manila 2025, both of which showcase innovation and collaboration among industries supporting tourism.
“These events highlight the innovation, talent, and resilience found in two of the fastest-growing industries that support Philippine tourism. We recognize that hospitality and food service are essential pillars of the visitor experience,” she added.
Also present during the opening ceremony were DOT Undersecretary Maria Rica Bueno, Tourism Promotions Board Senior Convention Services Officer Jasmine Parra, DOLE-NCR Assistant Regional Director Jude Thomas Trayvilla, Global-Link MP Events International Inc. Chief Operating Officer Jing Lagandaon, Hotel and Restaurant Association of the Philippines Director Steve Tamayo, and Chamber of Cosmetics Industry of the Philippines President Christine Michelle Reyes.
