Subaru now has its own hybrid to offer in the form of the new Forester e-Boxer Hybrid. The new model now offers potential customers the benefits of Subaru’s trademark low center of gravity boxer configuration, always on all-wheel drive, and now, even higher fuel efficiency.
The Forester e-Boxer Hybrid is powered by a 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated Boxer engine that runs on the Atkinson cycle, paired to an electric motor. The engine alone produces 164-PS at 5,600 rpm along with 209-Nm of torque at 3600 - 4800 rpm. The electric motor adds 122-PS and 276-Nm of torque.
The hybrid system is powered by a 1.1 kWh lithium-ion battery. The powertrain is then mated to a Lineatronic CVT and the brand’s Symmetrical AWD system. The Forester e-Boxer Hybrid can run on pure electric power and recharge while on the go thanks to regenerative braking.
Paired with the new powertrain is an all new look. The Forester Hybrid gets a split grille and wing-shaped headlights. LED foglights are fitted on the far corners of the bumper. There are also new LED taillights that meet the black tailgate garnish stretching across the tailgate. It rolls on 19-inch alloy wheels, comes with roof rails, a panoramic sunroof, and blacked-out A-pillars and D-pillars for a floating roof look.
Inside, the Forester Hybrid is upholstered in premium leather seats. It also gets a portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system. It measures 11.6 inches in size and comes with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto. Complementing it is a premium Harmon Kardon surround sound system for high-quality audio.
Other amenities include a wireless charging pad, front and rear center armrests, dual-zone climate control with rear vents, a hands-free power tailgate, 60:40 split rear seats, and front and rear USB charging ports.
Naturally, there’s no shortage of safety features. The Forester e-Boxer Hybrid is fitted with the EyeSight suite of intelligent driver aids. This includes advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) like pre-collision braking, pre-collision throttle management, adaptive cruise control, emergency driving stop when the vehicle detects no steering input by the driver, autonomous emergency steering, high-beam assist, lane-centering control, lane departure prevention, and lead vehicle start alert.
The Forester e-Boxer Hybrid will be offered in Autumn Green Metallic, Brilliant Bronze Metallic, Cashmere Gold Opal, Crimson Red Pearl, Crystal Black Silica, Crystal White Pearl, Daybreak Blue Pearl, Ice Silver Metallic, Magnetite Gray Metallic, River Rock Pearl, and Sapphire Blue Pearl.
The 2026 Subaru Forester e-Boxer Hybrid retails for PHP 2,498,000 and is now available at all authorized Subaru showrooms.
