The mother of St. Carlo Acutis has encouraged Filipinos to nurture a stronger love for the Eucharist, taking inspiration from her son whose deep faith and daily devotion to the Blessed Sacrament became the center of his young life.
As the country prepares to welcome the pilgrim relic of the newly canonized millennial saint from Nov. 28 to Dec. 15, Antonia Salzano described the Philippines as “a country so loved by Jesus” for the faith and devotion of its people.
“What I suggest to you is to always follow this devotion to the Eucharist like Carlo, to pray the rosary each day,” Salzano said in a message shared by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).
She shared how her son, fondly remembered as the “cyber apostle of the Eucharist,” never missed daily Mass and Eucharistic adoration, finding strength and joy in the presence of Christ.
“He used to say the Eucharist is the highway to heaven. The Eucharist is the real presence of Jesus among us, and this is the most supernatural thing we have in the world,” she said.
Salzano urged Filipinos to continue deepening their Eucharistic faith and to bring others closer to it.
“We pray for you,” she said.
“Philippines is a country so loved by Jesus because you are so devoted, so good Catholics,” she added.
The relic’s Philippine pilgrimage will be led by the Friends of Saint Carlo Acutis–Philippines, under the guidance of Bishop Dennis Villarojo of Malolos.
Formed in 2020, the organization promotes devotion to St. Carlo, especially among young people, and encourages love for the Eucharist and the Blessed Virgin Mary.
While the full itinerary has yet to be released, the relic is expected to visit several parishes across Metro Manila and Cebu.
Acutis, canonized by Pope Leo XIV on Sept. 7, 2025, became the first millennial declared a saint.
Known as “God’s Influencer,” he used his computer skills to share the Catholic faith online and created a website documenting Eucharistic miracles around the world.
St. Carlo Acutis’ feast day is celebrated every October 12, the anniversary of his death in 2006.
