Pasig, Marikina named best-performing cities for excellent urban governance
The local governments of Pasig and Marikina were recognized as Best Performing Cities during the 2025 Metro Manila SubayBAYANI Awards of the Department of the Interior and Local Government–National Capital Region (DILG-NCR) for their excellence in urban governance.

The event was held on Oct. 7, where six other cities, including Caloocan, Las Piñas, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasay, and Valenzuela, along with the Municipality of Pateros, also received the same recognition.
The DILG-NCR said these cities are championing local infrastructure initiatives that drive progress and innovation in Metro Manila.
Barangay Industrial Valley Complex in Marikina and Barangay Valenzuela in Makati were also acknowledged among the six top-performing barangays for their exemplary implementation of local government projects that have significantly improved the lives of their residents. The Marikina barangay was likewise named one of the top three recipients of the SubayBAYANI Grand Award.
Pasig City also received the SubayBAYANI Grand Award for its outstanding infrastructure projects that continue to shape urban development in the region.
The same award was also received by the DILG Marikina Field Office for its exemplary practices and unwavering commitment to project management, ensuring that local programs are effective, sustainable, and responsive to the people’s real needs.
DILG-NCR Assistant Regional Director Lawyer Ana Lyn R. Baltazar expressed her gratitude to the awardees, saying, “The excellence you have demonstrated in good local governance will empower our future events and celebrations, defining the progress and best practices in our region. Take heart that your achievements will extend far beyond this gathering; they will resonate through the streets and remain in the communities you have uplifted.”
