President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. (PCO) | Cavite 4th district Rep. Francisco Barzaga (MANILA BULLETIN)
President Marcos is too busy doing his job to pay attention to the issues thrown at him, particularly the allegations and moves by Cavite 4th district Rep. Francisco "Kiko" Barzaga.
Barzaga has recently disclosed that he has prepared an impeachment complaint against President Marcos. Prior to this, he has also called for the President's resignation.
Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said Marcos is focused on responding to the people's needs, and has no time to pay attention to the lawmaker’s remarks against him.
“Sa panahon ngayon na maraming ginagawa ang Pangulo, hindi po pinapansin ang ganyang klase ng usapin (In these times when the President has many responsibilities, he does not pay attention to that kind of issue)," Castro said in a Palace briefing on Thursday, Oct. 9.
"Busy ang Pangulo sa pagtulong sa mga kababayan natin. Maraming trabaho para maiangat pa ang Pilipinas, hindi para ibaba ang dignidad ng ating bansa (The President is busy helping our fellow Filipinos. There is a lot of work to be done to further uplift the Philippines, not to bring down the dignity of our nation)," Castro added.
The Palace official also hit back at Barzaga for calling for the President's resignation over allegations of corruption, stressing that there is no evidence backing his claims.
"Mahirap po kasi magsalita nang walang ebidensya. Mahirap magbintang, madaling magsabi ng kung ano ano. Kung walang ebidensya, hindi dapat paniwalaan (It’s difficult to speak without evidence. It’s easy to make accusations and say all sorts of things, but without evidence, they should not be believed)," Castro said.
Castro also refused to comment on the impeachment complaint the congressman was planning to file, saying it now falls under the House of Representatives.
"Makarating o hindi makarating, ito naman po ay trabaho po yan at saklaw po yan ng House of Representatives (Whether it reaches them or not, that is a matter that falls under the work and jurisdiction of the House of Representatives)," she said when asked if the complaint has already reached the President.
