A Chinese electrician was rescued from his captors after a simple fistfight turned into a possible case of robbery-extortion in Barangay Dolores, Taytay, Rizal, on Wednesday, Oct. 8, the Taytay Municipal Police reported.
Based on the police report, Barangay Dolores officials first received a noise and disturbance complaint from several residents of a condominium building regarding two Chinese individuals and two Filipino men engaged in a fistfight in an adjacent room.
The officials apprehended the men identified as alias Xiaofei, 41, an electrician, alias Koa, another Chinese national, Michael, a driver, and Jerson, and were subsequently turned over to the Taytay Municipal Police Station.
During the initial inquiry at the station, Michael and Jerson claimed that the two Chinese men started the fistfight due to severe drunkenness. The investigators advised the men to temporarily rest at the police station.
Upon checking the building's closed-circuit television (CCTV), the police found out that Xiaofei was unwillingly taken by Koa, Michael, and Jerson.
The men allegedly demanded money from Xiaofei through the use of force, threat, and intimidation in exchange for his vehicle and his personal documents, which is a possible case of robbery-extortion.
The three suspects are currently detained at the police custodial facility while the investigation is still ongoing. Two more Chinese nationals involved in the crime are still being hunted by the police.
The police said they may face robbery-extortion raps.
