WCEJA 2025 to honor OPM icon Nonoy Zuniga
Veteran OPM artist Nonoy Zuniga will receive the Outstanding Global OPM Icon from World Class Excellence Japan (WCEJA) 2025 during ceremonies, which will be held at New Otani Hotel Fukuoka, Japan, on Oct. 8.
Nonoy is truly a celebrated Filipino artist, known for his soulful voice and enduring contributions to Original Pilipino Music (OPM). Songs like “Kumusta Ka,” and “Never Ever Say Goodbye” have become timeless classics, resonating with generations of Filipinos both locally and abroad.
His career spans over four decades, demonstrating remarkable consistency in artistry and musical relevance. This longevity is a testament to his talent, adaptability, and lasting influence in the industry.
Nonoy has remained committed to promoting and performing OPM, helping elevate Filipino music on both national and international stages. His dedication has helped define what OPM is for many fans around the world.
His music has also reached audiences beyond the Philippines, especially in communities with large Filipino populations (e.g., the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East). His international performances have made him a cultural ambassador of Filipino music.
According to Emma Cordero, president and founder of WCEJA, Nonoy is more than a singer; he is a symbol of the power of OPM to heal, unite, and inspire. His voice has comforted homesick Filipinos, his story has uplifted the broken, and his music continues to shape the cultural identity of the Filipino people worldwide.
