“Sa ngayon, wala pa po sa ating naibibigay na anumang detalye patungkol po diyan (For now, we haven’t received any details yet about it),” the official said in a press briefing in Malacañang on Wednesday, Oct. 8.
“Pero once na nabigay po sa atin, sa inyo ko po unang sasabihin (But once I have details, I will inform you at once),” she added.
Malacañang already confirmed that DOJ Undersecretary Fredderick Vida will serve as officer-in-charge until a new DOJ chief is named.
This came after the President appointed Remulla as the country’s new Ombudsman tasked to investigate and prosecute public officials for illegal, unjust, improper, and inefficient acts.
It also aims to prevent and eliminate corruption and abuse by public officials.
Remulla, who will serve for a term of seven years and is scheduled to take his oath on Thursday, was chosen from six candidates shortlisted by the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) for the Ombudsman post.
Prior to his appointment, the new Ombudsman had to secure clearance from the Office of the Ombudsman due to his pending case that stemmed from his connection in the extradition of former president Rodrigo Duterte to The Hague, Netherlands.
