Senate President Vicente "Tito" Sotto III said on Wednesday, Oct. 8, that Senator Erwin Tulfo is also a viable choice to head the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.

"Yes definitely," Sotto said when asked if Tulfo is among the choices to replace Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo "Ping" Lacson.
"He has expertise and experience in investigative journalism. Matapang pa (Even tougher)," he added.
Sotto said that if there are no takers, the vice chairman, who is Tulfo, will automatically step in.
The Senate leader earlier said that Senators Joseph Victor "JV" Ejercito, Raffy Tulfo, Pia Cayetano, Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan, and Risa Hontiveros are being considered for the role.
So far, only Senator Raffy has officially declined, while Ejercito is still contemplating.
Sotto said that Senator Erwin could be a "good choice".
Lacson recently resigned as the panel's chairperson, citing the disapproval of some of his colleagues in the panel’s ongoing investigation into the anomalous flood control projects as the reason. Sotto said that Lacson would fare better as a critic.
