Mandaluyong gov't gives construction materials to fire-hit victims in Addition Hills

Mandaluyong City Mayor Menchie Abalos spearheaded the distribution of construction materials to the families affected by the fire that hit a residential area in Barangay Addition Hills in July.
Abalos, together with Ciara Marie Abalos Foundation President and City Councilor Charisse Abalos-Vargas, personally turned over the construction materials to the fire victims in Welfareville Compound, which include plywoods, metal roofings, hollow blocks, cement, and other building supplies.
The mayor expressed her gratitude to the foundation for their help, saying that this will speed up the rebuilding of the beneficiaries' homes as they recover from the tragedy caused by the fire in their area.
For her part, Councilor Abalos-Vargas pledged the foundation's continuous support for the city government and the people of Mandaluyong, especially during times of crises.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), around 900 families or 4,500 individuals lost their homes in the fire that left seven people injured.
The blaze began at around 11:24 a.m. behind Nuebe de Pebrero Elementary School.
The fire was raised to the second alarm at 11:33 a.m., to the third alarm at around 11:40 a.m., and was escalated to the fourth alarm at 1:01 p.m. before being declared fire out at 3:49 p.m.
