Manila gov't distributes aid to fire-hit families in Leveriza

Approximately 75 families affected by the fire that hit a residential area on Leveriza Street in Barangay 705, San Andres, Manila were given immediate financial and social aid by the city government to help them recover from the crisis.
Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso and Vice Mayor Chi Atienza led the distribution of P15,000 each to the affected families.
They also received relief boxes from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Manila Social Welfare and Development (MSWD).
"Personal po nating pinuntahan ang mga nasunugan upang mabigyan sila ng financial assistance para sa kanilang muling pagsisimula. Gusto ko lang lagi mabilis umaksiyon ang gobyerno para maiparamdam sa tao na sa oras ng pangangailangan n'ya, kapag matutumba na s'ya, may pader siyang masasandalan -- ang pamahalaang lungsod ng Maynila (We personally went to the fire victims to provide them with financial assistance to help restart their lives. I just want the government to always act quickly to make people feel that in their time of need, when they are about to fall, they have a wall to lean on -- the city government of Manila," Domagoso said.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the blaze started at around 9:25 p.m. and reached the second alarm at around 9:36 p.m. before it was extinguished.
No one was reported hurt in the incident.
Arson investigators are still investigating the cause of the fire and the amount of damage to property.
