Ex-barangay captain gunned down in Negros Occidental

BACOLOD CITY – A 63-year-old former barangay captain was shot dead in Sitio Tunga, Barangay Patun-an, Calatrava, Negros Occidental on Monday, Oct. 6.
Police said the victim Alex was driving a motorcycle on his way home when he was shot in the waist by an unidentified person on board a motorcycle.
The victim fell from his motorcycle and was declared dead in a hospital.
The gunman fled with an unidentified companion.
Recovered from the crime scene were a fired cartridge and fired bullet.
Police are looking into personal grudge as possible motive.
The victim was released from jail two years ago for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
Authorities are backtracking closed circuit television cameras to identify the gunmen.
