US healthcare giant establishes Manila GBS hub to scale global operations

United States-based (US) healthcare giant Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH) is expanding its operations in the Philippines with the opening of a new office aimed at scaling up the delivery of its global business services (GBS).
BSMH, one of the most prominent Catholic non-profit health institutions in the US, said it has opened a GBS Center in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) to advance its mission in the Philippines, where the majority of the population is Catholic.
Located at Park Triangle Corporate Center in BGC, the GBS - Manila office will provide a dynamic space for up to 250 employees.
The Filipino talent under this new office will deliver essential human resources, finance, supply chain, and site support functions, serving BSMH associates and operations in the US and Ireland.
GBS - Manila Country Head Sam Padilla said this expansion reflects the company’s strong commitment to the Philippines as a vital partner in its global operations.
“By investing in Filipino talent and expertise, we are building a strong foundation to support our worldwide operations, enhance efficiency, and foster seamless collaboration across borders,” said Padilla.
BSMH sees the Philippines as an important component in its long-term global strategy of enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring seamless collaboration across countries.
The new office enables the company to expand its international healthcare footprint, enhancing overall patient access and care delivery.
Since 2013, BSMH has established a strong presence in the country through its Global Ministries arm, which has provided immediate disaster response and long-term rehabilitation efforts.
“At Bon Secours Mercy Health, our associates everywhere are guided by shared values and our mission to extend the compassionate ministry of Jesus,” said Padilla.
“The opening of our new GBS office in the Philippines marks an important milestone in strengthening our ministry globally,” he added.
Headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, BSMH operates over 50 hospitals and 1,200 care sites across the US and Ireland.
The company cares for patients more than 11 million times per year, employing over 60,000 staff members worldwide.
The Office of the Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs (OSAPIEA) said in July that BSMH plans to expand its GBS workforce in the country from the current 170 to about 1,200.
OSAPIEA also stated that the company is planning to invest up to $500 million in a state-of-the-art tertiary hospital to deliver high-quality medical services to Filipinos.
If such an investment is realized, it would be one of the biggest private-sector health care investments in the country by a US-based health provider.
