Rep. Paolo Duterte helps families displaced by Davao City fire

Davao City first district Rep. Paolo Duterte personally visited and provided relief assistance on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 5, to hundreds of families displaced by a massive fire in Barangay 21-C, Piapi Boulevard recently.
Rep. Duterte distributed food packs, relief goods, and Personal Clothing and Bedding (PCB) kits to affected households.
Each PCB kit contained blankets, towels, undergarments, and children’s clothing.
One-hundred seventy-nine homeowners, 87 sharers, six renters, and six boarders received assistance.
Rep. Duterte also distributed school supplies for students.
He organized a special program for around 200 children with their parents, featuring a magician and clown show, fun games, toy giveaways, kiddie meals, and a surprise appearance from a fastfood chain mascot.
“We want to ease the pain and trauma that the children and their families are experiencing after the fire. We also want to show them that the community stands with them as they recover and rebuild their lives,” Rep. Duterte said.
Parents thanked Rep. Duterte for the gesture.
Meanwhile, Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go visited fire victims on Monday morning, Oct. 6, and assured them of his continued support and concern.
“It pains me to see this community suffer once again. I was also here two years ago when the same tragedy struck. I may not be able to answer all the needs, but I will do my best to help, and together we will recover,” Go said.
“People can wash clothes and earn money again, but a life lost is gone forever. So, I am here to extend help in every way possible and remind everyone that protecting life and health must always come first,” Go said.
Barangay 21-C Chairman Jonard Gabrillo thanked the senator for his presence and assistance. “We are grateful to our very own Sen. Bong Go who has always stood by us in both hardship and comfort, not only for the barangay but all Davaoeños in need,” he said.
The Davao City Council led by Councilors Bonz Andre Militar, Temujin “Tek” Ocampo, and Radge Ibuyan, also provided relief assistance to victims. They emphasized the importance of helping one another, especially in these trying times.
Go thanked city officials for their swift response, especially acting Mayor Sebastian Duterte and Rep. Paolo Duterte. He also thanked former President Rodrigo Duterte, saying he would not have reached this far in life without all his help.
