President Marcos has announced that every public school teacher will get a P1,000 incentive each on World Teachers' Day in recognition of their efforts and sacrifices.

Marcos made the announcement during the celebration of National Teachers' Day on Monday, Oct. 6, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

"[T]oday, on World Teachers’ Day, we also provide a P1,000 incentive for every public school teacher — a little reminder man lang, kaunti lang paalala that we recognize your efforts and your sacrifices and they have not gone unrecognized," Marcos said in his speech.

He vowed that the government will continue to support them through measures that aim to empower them.

"It reminds us that the true measure of a nation’s growth is found in the grit, the passion, and dedication of you – our teachers," Marcos said, referring to the heroism of teachers around the country.

"Yet, we know that inspiration must be matched with action. Teachers can only fulfill their calling if the government fully supports their teachers," he added.

The President said this is why he signed the Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act which grants a tax-free teaching allowance for public school teachers. He said this year, every teacher has already received P10,000 to help cover classroom needs.

He also cited issuing Department of Education (DepEd) Order No. 005 to ensure fair teaching loads.

"We cannot impose. We cannot overload our teachers if they are to do the best job possible. And that is why if now – if you exceed six hours of classroom instruction in a day, you will be compensated accordingly," Marcos said.

The Chief Executive also assured teachers that the government has also partnered with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas to launch the e-Learning Academy on personal finance and economics, empowering teachers to become financially literate citizens.

"We have also reduced the paperwork of our teachers by 57 percent. From dozens of forms, only five remain that teachers must regularly accomplish—so you can focus less on bureaucracy, and more on what you do best: teaching," he said.

Marcos further assured them that no teacher will retire as a Teacher 1 because a new law— Republic Act No. 12288 or the Career Progression System for Public School Teachers and School Leaders Act—will ensure a wider and clearer career pathways for teachers.

"Simple lang ang ibig sabihin nito, wala ng public school teacher na magre-retire na Teacher I. Hindi na natin papayagan na mangyari ulit yun (t simply means that no public school teacher will retire as a Teacher I anymore. We will no longer allow that to happen)," Marcos said.

"This is about recognizing the years of service that you have given, and ensuring that your journey as an educator is filled with dignity, with respect, and with growth," he added.

He also told them that the Senate and Congress have already proposed the 2026 budget for DepEd and that his administration has allocated P26.55 billion for DepEd programs from the funds of the flood control projects.

"These funds will be directed to increase funding for classrooms, child nutrition, teacher compensation, and technology in schools," he said. "Because we believe that education is the best, the best investment that any nation can make in its people."
