Pasig City recognizes most gender responsive barangays

The Pasig City government gave due recognition to its barangays and city offices and departments which have displayed outstanding performance in promoting gender equality and development goals and initiatives.
In the recently concluded Gender and Development (GAD) Summit 2025 spearheaded by the Pasig City Gender And Development Office, 23 barangays and seven city offices participated in the 2025 Search for the Most Gender-Responsive Barangay.
Barangay San Antonio was named Most Gender-Responsive Barangay and received the Most Gender-Responsive Seal and a cash prize of P75,000. Barangay Bagong Katipunan was named 1st Runner-Up, and Barangay Sumilang the 2nd Runner-Up. They received Certificates of Award and Appreciation and cash prizes of P50,000 and P30,000, respectively.
Meanwhile, the City Health Department won the Most Gender-Responsive Office. It received the Most Gender-Responsive Seal and a cash prize of P75,000.
Pasig City General Hospital was named 1st Runner-Up and Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig (PLP) was named 2nd Runner-Up. They received Certificates of Appreciation and cash prizes of P50,000 and P30,000, respectively.
The GAD 2025, which was attended by Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto and other city government officials, including members of Pasig's GAD Focal Point System (Executive Committee, Technical Working Group, and Monitoring and Evaluation), aimed to recognize the programs and initiatives of the city in promoting gender equality and empowerment inside the city government and the whole community of Pasig.
During the summit, Kim Harold Peji, OIC of the Technical Services and Regional Coordination Division of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), lectured about GAD mandates.
He also shared the importance of promoting gender-responsive local governance, as well as the proper use and guidelines for allocating the GAD budget, and best practices in gender mainstreaming that can serve as models for local governments.
Pasig City's GAD Agenda aims to "implement gender responsive projects and actions to promote and integrate gender equality and inclusion in the city."
The GAD Office seeks to do this by institutionalizing a GAD focal point system to craft and ensure compliance in these projects' implementations.
Aside from increasing gender-based, specialized services and information, the general agenda was established to address and resolve pervasive gender issues like responsible parenthood, maternal deaths, LGBTQ+ discrimination, and violence against women and children (VAWC).
