Former President Rodrigo Duterte was honored with the prestigious Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Golden Pillar of Law Award during a ceremony on Monday, Oct. 6, at the Hall of Justice in Davao City.
The award honored the then city mayor and Philippine president for his 50 years in the legal profession, whether in private practice or public service, and his commitment to justice, integrity, and the rule of law.
Former Undersecretary and City Administrator, Jesus Melchor Quitain, accepted the award in behalf of Duterte.
Councilor and lawyer J. Melchor Quitain Jr., who accompanied his father in receiving the award, announced Duterte’s recent achievement in his official Facebook page.
The councilor said the IBP Davao City Chapter praised Duterte for his enduring contributions to the legal community and public service, citing his legacy as a public prosecutor and a national leader.
The Golden Pillar of Law Award is one of the IBP’s highest honors, recognizing individuals who exemplify excellence in the legal field and uphold the principles of justice and integrity throughout their careers.
