PCS leads 'pink-lighting' of buildings to enhance breast cancer awareness

The Philippine College of Surgeons (PCS), led by its president Dr. Jose Rhoel C. De Leon, started the simultaneous “pink-lighting” of vital infrastructures and buildings in the country to enhance breast cancer awareness and to symbolize the country's unity in combatting the disease.

The “pink-lighting” by the PCS last October 1, 2025 was held at the PCS Information and Communication Office (PICO) at the PCS Building in EDSA, Quezon City. The PCS was joined by the following organizations: Philippine College of Surgeons, Inner Wheel Clubs of the Philippines, Inc., Association of Women Surgeons of the Philippines, Philippine College of Surgeons Foundation, the Department of Health, Philippine College of Surgeons Cancer Commission, Philippine Society of General Surgeons, Philippine Society of Breast Surgeons, and Surgical Oncology Society of the Philippines.
The PCS said there will be simultaneous fora on breast cancer awareness, prevention, and cure to be conducted nationwide during the Breast Cancer Awareness Month (Oct. 1-31).

The PCS also hosted the lay fora lecture of Dr. Genevieve Evangelista of the Philippine Society of Breast Cancer on policy formulation and information dissemination on cancer prevention.
