Partly cloudy weather with isolated rain showers to prevail until Oct. 7
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather specialist Obet Badrina said on Sunday, Oct. 5 that partly cloudy weather will continue to prevail across the country from Monday to Tuesday, Oct. 6 to 7, except ffor isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.
By Wednesday to Thursday, Oct. 8 to 9, cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms may affect Mindanao and Palawan due to the possible influence of the southwest monsoon or “habagat.”
PAGASA advised the public to remain alert for possible flash floods and landslides, particularly during moderate to heavy rainfall or severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, a tropical storm with the international name “Halong,” which is outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), was spotted 2,190 kilometers east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon as of Sunday morning.
It is moving westward at 10 kilometers per hour and may enter PAR in the coming days.
It will be given the local name “Quedan” once it enters the country’s area of responsibility.
However, Badrina said Halong is not expected to directly affect the country, as it may only stay near the northeastern boundary of PAR before eventually exiting.
