Cebu 5th district Rep. Vincent Franco "Duke" Frasco gave an honest-to-goodness assessment of the situation in his province several days removed from a deadly magnitude 6.9 earthquake.
In a Facebook post late Saturday night, Oct. 4, Rep. Frasco told his followers and province-mates what they should expect on the path back to normalcy.
"The road to recovery will be long. This will require an organized and comprehensive effort that covers all aspects beyond the provision of relief," the former House deputy speaker said in an un-sugarcoated remark.
"Yesterday, 68 hours after the quake, I conducted a situational briefing together with DOT Sec. Christina Frasco and officials from the DPWH, DSWD, and DepEd, along with our 10 mayors, 10 vice mayors, board members, and other leaders of the 5th District," Rep. Frasco said.
"The objective is to consolidate all findings and draft a comprehensive report, which I intend to submit to President Marcos and Speaker Dy by Monday at the earliest," he said.
Rep. Frasco's post also carried a measure of hope--something that the earthquake victims need desperately at the moment.
"Together, as Cebuanos and as one people of the North, we will rise from this tragedy. With unity, compassion, and resilience, we will rebuild our communities and recover stronger than ever," he said.
The 6.9 tremblor struck Cebu and nearby provinces last Sept. 30.
