A 35-year-old jeepney driver was stabbed multiple times by a delivery rider following a road rage incident along Paz Street in Paco, Manila, on Oct. 2, the Manila Police District (MPD) said.
Based on the police investigation, the victim, identified as Mark Anthony Ramon, had just parked by the side of the road to fetch passengers when the suspect, Alvin Candelario, stopped in front of Ramon's jeepney to deliver parcels.
When Ramon asked Candelario to move his motorcycle, fearing it might get hit by his jeepney, the delivery rider scolded him, saying that the law doesn't apply to jeepney drivers like him, an insult that irked Ramon.
A fistfight ensued between the two, during which Candelario pulled out a screwdriver from his waist and repeatedly stabbed Ramon in the armpit and in both forearms.
The suspect quickly fled the scene, while Ramon temporarily collapsed from his injuries.
He later went to Ospital ng Maynila (OsMan) for medical treatment, where the attending physician recommended his admission due to internal bleeding in his lungs caused by the stabbing.
Ramon is still under observation for his injuries.
Meanwhile, the personnel of the Ermita Police Station launched a follow-up operation to arrest Candelario who is still at large.
