A magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck off Surigao del Norte early Saturday morning, Oct. 4, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
In its Earthquake Information No. 1, Phivolcs said the tremor occurred at 7:42 a.m.
The agency said its epicenter was located 73 kilometers northeast of Burgos, Surigao del Norte.
The quake, of tectonic origin, had a depth of 10 kilometers, it said.
Phivolcs noted that no damage and aftershocks are expected from the earthquake.
