TACLOBAN CITY – Tingog party-list has rolled out its initial relief mission to assist families affected by the powerful earthquake that struck Cebu province on Tuesday night.
Representatives Yedda Romualdez, Jude Acidre, and Andrew Julian Romualdez distributed relief packs and tents to residents of Bogo City and the towns of Medellin, Borbon, and San Remigio.
The mission, in partnership with Cebu Rep. Sun Shimura and local leaders, aims to immediately address hunger and thirst among quake-hit communities.
They extended aid in Barangays Bongoyan and Poblacion in Borbon and Barangay Nailon in Bogo City.
“We want our ‘kababayans’ in Cebu to know they are not alone in this struggle. Tingog will provide immediate relief and stand with them as they recover from this tragedy,” the lawmakers said in a joint statement.
Yedda said the relief mission is a concrete expression of ‘’bayanihan.’’ “Sa bawat kalamidad, ang pinakamahalaga ay ang pakikipagkapwa.
Tingog is committed to bringing comfort and relief, lalo na sa mga kababayang biglang nawalan ng tirahan at kabuhayan dahil sa lindol.”
Acidre urged quake victims to stay strong. “Hindi matitinag ang diwa ng Cebuano. Sa kabila ng pinsalang idinulot ng lindol, kasama ninyo ang Tingog sa pagbangon.”
Andrew assured that Tingog’s effort would not end with relief distribution.
The Tingog lawmakers condoled with families who lost loved ones in the earthquake.
They said that continued cooperation with national and local government agencies will hasten rehabilitation.
“Together, we can rise from this tragedy. With unity, compassion, and resilience, Cebu will recover stronger,” they said.
