Quezon City Councilor Aiko Melendez and Zambales Rep. Jay Khonghun won’t be raising a toast to eight years of togetherness this November—their relationship is over.
The split was confirmed Oct. 2 by Ogie Diaz, Aiko’s manager, who read her official statement about the same on his popular vlog.
According to Aiko, after “four months of reflection,” the two decided to part ways, insisting no third party was involved.
The usual PR pleasantries followed—respect, gratitude, public service, please-respect-our-privacy—you know, the breakup bingo card.
Still, the news stings. 
Just last November, the couple marked their seventh year together in BGC with family and close friends, proudly brushing off the dreaded “seven-year itch.”
Fast-forward less than a year later, and the itch looks more like a full-blown rash.
Fans who thought wedding bells were next will have to settle for, err, campaign jingles instead.
Both promise to move on gracefully, but let’s be real: In showbiz and politics, nothing fuels the rumor mill like a high-profile breakup.
Whether there’s a plot twist in the sequel—or if this is truly the endgame—abangan na lang sa susunod na kabanata.
