The Philippine National Police (PNP) confirmed on Friday, Oct. 3, that two individuals tagged as persons of interest (POIs) in the disappearance of a businessman, his wife, and their business partner nearly three months ago have finally surrendered to the authorities.
The couple, Henry Angelo, 39, and Margie Pantollana, 38, residents of Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig City, and their business partner Richard Cadiz, 30, have been missing since July 6 and were last seen in Cavite after a meeting with another individual for a business transaction, according to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
Police Lt. Col. John Guiagui, chief of the CIDG National Capital Region (NCR) regional field unit, said the POIs, a male and a female, were caught on a closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage using credit cards belonging to the couple.
Guiagui said the POIs bought more than 50 mobile phones worth P1 million, withdrew P5,000, and made other purchases in Quezon City, Parañaque, Bulacan, and Cavite, introducing themselves as the owners of the cards.
The POIs then allegedly sold the phones for a profit of P500,000.
At Camp Crame, the POIs claimed they only bought the credit cards from junk traders in Payatas, Quezon City. They also denied any knowledge or involvement in the disappearance of the three business persons.
The POIs will be charged under Republic Act 8484, the Access Devices Regulation Act.
Further, Guiagui disclosed that the male POI has a prior case in Makati under the same law, while the female POI claimed she only joined the other for a “side hustle.”
The Pantollana couple was last seen in a sports utility vehicle (SUV) driven by Cadiz along Aguinaldo Highway in Dasmariñas, Cavite while being tailed by a white van.
The trio met with a man identified as alias “Jeff” at a condominium in Pasig City for a business deal involving stem cell and beauty products, along with a luxury wristwatch valued at P20 million, according to the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC).
They were supposed to go to another business meeting but have since failed to return home.
Meanwhile, the CIDG-NCR confirmed that the individual whom the three missing business persons last met had already appeared before the CIDG earlier this week.
Alias “Jeff” explained to the CIDG that the trio met him at his condo unit in Pasig City around 11:30 a.m. on July 6.
However, he claimed that Mr. Pantollana took several phone calls and rushed to another meeting. After that, he said he learned that the trio had gone missing.
Thirteen individuals were issued subpoenas by the CIDG as part of an investigation into the case.
