De La Salle big man Mason Amos is set for a much-anticipated showdown against his former school Ateneo in the UAAP Season 88 men’s basketball tournament Sunday, Oct. 5.
The Gilas Pilipinas center looks to deliver in their 4:30 p.m. duel at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, with winning on top of his mind when the Green Archers (2-1) clash against the surging Eagles who carry an immaculate 3-0 record.
“I mean, yeah. Of course, it's a rivalry, but again, it's another game. So, I mean, it's elimination. It's not the playoffs. We haven't... We're not finished yet,” said Amos.
“So whoever's in the way, we're gonna have to take care of business and play as hard as we can,” added Amos, who scored 14 points in La Salle’s 74-72 escape over Far Eastern University last Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion.
Mason previously served a one-year residency after transferring from Ateneo to La Salle. The 6-foot-7 forward now reinforces the Topex Robinson-mentored squad with fellow transferees Jacob Cortez, Kean Baclaan, and Luis Pablo.
La Salle remains a solid title contender in Season 88 despite the exit of Kevin Quiambao who is now strutting his wares in the Korean Basketball League.
