A bomb threat prompted the evacuation of students of the De La Salle University (DLSU) in Manila on Thursday, Oct. 2, as authorities conducted a full security sweep of the campus.
No explosive device was found following several hours of investigation.
The university received an anonymous message claiming that a bomb had been planted on its premises.
As a precaution, the DLSU administration immediately coordinated with the Philippine National Police (PNP), leading to the evacuation of students, faculty, and staff.
The PNP’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit conducted a thorough inspection of campus buildings and surrounding areas.
The PNP confirmed that the search yielded no threats, and the area was declared clear.
Classes and on-campus activities remained suspended for the rest of the day.
Local officials monitoring the situation, including Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso, stated that initial assessments suggested the possibility of a prank.
Authorities noted similarities with previous incidents targeting schools in Metro Manila, many of which were later identified as hoaxes.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the source of the threat.
DLSU has not yet announced whether classes will resume on Friday, pending further security evaluations.
