De Lima irked that VP Duterte can drop by Senate, but not at the House

Mamamayang Liberal (ML) Party-list Rep. Leila de Lima took great offense on Thursday night, Oct. 2 to Vice President Sara Duterte's non-appearance in the House plenary debates on the proposed 2026 national budget.
This, especially after the Vice President was able to recently visit the other legislative chamber, the Senate.
"The whole budget process is something that is being directed and recognized by the Constitution itself. So disrespecting the budgetary process of this body is a clear case of disrespect of our Constitution," De Lima said in a manifestation during Thursday's session--the last day of the plenary debates on the P6.793-trillion General Appropriations Bill (GAB).
"Who is she to continuously disrespect or show disrespect to this body as an institution and to the Constitution?" the party-list congresswoman asked.
"If she can afford to be showing herself up to the Senate, including being there, and applauding the former Senate President in his privilege speech, which is definitely not part of her mandate as a Vice President, why can't she not spare a few moments of her time attending to her official function as Vice President to defend the budget of her office?" added De Lima.
"Enough is enough! Enough of her brattiness!" she further said.
Last Sept. 29, Vice President Duterte went to the Senate and listened to the speech of erstwhile Senate President, Senator, Francis "Chiz" Escudero.
The House of Representatives in the previous 19th Congress impeached the Vice President. Among the grounds were her alleged questionable usage of P612.5 million worth of confidential funds and her threats to President Marcos.
Had the Senate impeachment trial pushed through in the current 20th Congress, De Lima would have been one of the solon-prosectors seeking a guilty verdict against Duterte.
