BALER, Aurora – Gov. Isidro Galban suspended work in government offices and classes on all levels in this province as tropical cyclone "Paolo" is expected to make landfall over southern Isabela or northern Aurora on Friday morning, Oct. 3.
Galban ordered frontline offices to be on alert to ensure the delivery of vital services to the public particularly in disaster-prone areas.
Casiguran Mayor Roynald Soriano ordered preemptive evacuations in low-lying and coastal Barangays Dicacong, Esperanza, and Marikit.
Food packs have been delivered to 16 barangays and residents in landslide-prone areas have been advised to evacuate.
Meanwhile, the late Gov. Reynante A. Tolentino was laid to rest on Thursday, Oct. 2, at the Dipaculao Cemetery.
The 74-year-old Tolentino died due to illness, three weeks after returning to work foĺlowing a medical leave of absence from Aug. 19 to 29.
Before his interment, Tolentino's remains were brought to the provincial capitol from his residence in Dipaculao for an overnight vigil on Oct. 1 to allow local officials, capitol employees and supporters to pay their last respects.
