More members of the diplomatic community expressed their sympathies to the victims of the 6.9-magnitude earthquake that rocked Cebu province on Tuesday, Sept. 30.

In separate posts on X (formerly Twitter), the ambassadors of Norway, France, and Germany sent their condolences to those affected by the quake.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives and destruction caused by the earthquake that hit Cebu,” French Ambassador Marie Fontanel said.
“France offers its deepest condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, as well as to the Philippine authorities. France stands in solidarity with the Philippines,” she added.
Norway Ambassador Christian Halaas Lyster also wrote that his “thoughts go out everyone affected by the terrible earthquake in Cebu. We stand with you.”
“Deeply saddened to learn about the earthquake in Cebu last night. My prayers are with the victims and their families. (Germany) stands in solidarity with the (Philippines),” German Ambassador Andreas Pffafernosche said in his post.
The Embassy of India also sent their “deepest condolences” to the victims and the Philippine government and its people.
“Our thought and prayers are with all those impacted by the earthquake,” it stated.
The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Manila also took to X to express its “profound sympathy.”
“We join in mourning with the families who have lost their loved ones and recognize the hardship faced by the many communities whose lives and homes have been affected,” the embassy said.
“At this difficult time, the Czech Republic stands in solidarity with the Filipino people and keeps in our thoughts the victims, the injured, and all those engaged in relief and recovery efforts,” it added.
The Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) has reported that so far, more than 60 people died and because of the 6.9-magnitude earthquake that shook Cebu province and collapsed many homes, buildings, malls, and restaurants.
It warned that the death toll could still rise as search and rescue operations continue.
