Cavite 4th district Rep. Francisco "Kiko" Barzaga's newfound anti-administration stance has inspired social media sleuths to dig up his old posts, particularly the time he declared then-presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos as the best for the Philippines' future.

Gaining attention in the last few days was Barzaga's Facebook post on March 16, 2022, wherein he explained switching his preference from "kakampink" standard-bearer Leni Robredo to Marcos.

"I didn’t switch for power, wealth, or gratitude. I switched to BBM/Sara because they are the key to our country’s prosperous future. #SwitchToBBM #BBMSARA2022," then-Dasmariñas City councilor Barzaga wrote.

"Note: After personally hearing all of them speak, it was obvious that BBM is the best candidate," added the now 27-year-old neophyte House member.

In one of the more viral videos during the 2022 elections, the former councilor interrupted a campaign speech of his late father, Rep. Elpidio "Pidi" Barzaga Jr., to declare support for Marcos' presidential bid.

It made for an awkward scene since at that time, Rep. Barzaga was campaigning for Robredo.

The self-proclaimed "congressmeow" Barzaga has tranformed into a full-fledged enemy of the administration in recent weeks. Riding on the flood control projects corruption scandal, the Cavite solon on Tuesday, Sept. 30 called for the impeachment of President Marcos.

The 300-plus strong House of Representatives, where Barzaga goes to work, is still largely pro-Marcos.
