LUCENA CITY, Quezon – A 75-year-old man and a vendor were shot dead in Sariaya and Buenavista towns, this province, on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
Police identified the victims as Doming, 75, of Buenavista, and Dante, 54, of Sariaya.
Investigation said Doming was walking home when a man appeared and shot him. The suspect fled.
Doming was taken to the Rural Health Unit-Buenavista where he was declared dead.
The victim was accused of rape. His case was dismissed and released on Sept. 19.
Dante was talking with his live-in partner when he was called by an unidentified man to come outside their house.
The victim went outside and gunshots later rang out. His live-in partner discovered him lying face down and lifeless with multiple bullet wounds.
The incident was reported to authorities and police recovered five cartridge cases in the crime scene.
The victim was regularly selling boiled corn in a cockpit arena.
Police are conducting follow-up investigations.
Meanwhile, a 38-year-old farmer was killed by a falling coconut tree in Barangay Tala, San Andres, Quezon on Monday afternoon, Sept. 29.
The victim Alvin was declared dead on arrival at San Andres Rural Health Unit.
