NCRPO: Over 56,000 ordinance violators apprehended, Metro Manila LGUs collect P15.7 M in fines

Local government units in Metro Manila earned more than ₱15.7 million in fines following the arrest of over 56,000 violators of local ordinances in a week-long operation since Sept. 22, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said.
NCRPO director, Maj. Gen. Anthony A Aberin said the offenses include drinking and smoking in public places, roaming without shirts, urinating in side streets, curfew violations and traffic code breaches.
A total of 56,469 violators were apprehended from Sept. 22 to 28 and Aberin said the fines totaled ₱15,762,811.65.
The Southern Police District (SPD) logged the highest number with 27,357 violators.
“The operations emphasize the NCRPO’s proactive stance in instilling discipline and public order,” said Aberin.
He said a total of 45 people were also collared after they yielded 46 firearms in various operations while 316 individuals were arrested in anti-illegal gambling operations.
In the campaign against illegal drugs, he said a total of 247 people were arrested and around P12.4 million worth of illegal drugs were seized.
On the other hand, he said a total of 85 Most Wanted Persons (MWPs) and 161 Other Wanted Persons (OWPs) were arrested.
