Mayor Isko orders repair of neglected Binondo health center

After seeing the worn down and severely neglected San Nicolas Health Center in Binondo, Manila, Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso immediately ordered its repair and renovation to ensure the safety and welfare of its patients and staff during his visit to the facility on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
Domagaso said he was extremely saddened by the current condition of the health center, particularly its leaking roof which causes rainwater to seep into the building even during light rains.
This prompted him to temporarily close down the three-storey health center, declaring it as an "unsafe workplace."
"Kasama sina City Engineer Armando Andres at Manila Health Department OIC Dr. Grace Padilla, agad nating inatasan na ito ay ipaayos at ipa-renovate upang mas mapaglingkuran nang maayos ang ating mga kababayan. Sisikapin po natin na agad itong maipatapos para sa kapakanan ng komunidad. May gobyerno na po sa lungsod ng Maynila at hindi natin kukunsintihin ang ganitong klase ng kapabayaan (Together with City Engineer Armando Andres and Manila Health Department OIC Dr. Grace Padilla, we immediately ordered that it be repaired and renovated to better serve our people. We will strive to have it completed immediately for the benefit of the community. There is now a functioning government in the city of Manila and we will not tolerate this kind of negligence)," Domagoso said.
He also asked about the working situation of the health center's staff and was told that they are worried that their employment may not be renewed by the city government. The mayor, however, assured them that they will keep their jobs for as long as they do their work properly.
Domagoso's inspection of the San Nicolas Health Center is just part of his initiatives in ensuring the health and welfare of Manileños and that all of Manila's health facilities are functioning properly.
