Cebu 5th district Rep. Vincent Franco "Duke" Frasco has been busy coordinating with provincial officials in the effort to give timely assistance to his constituents who were affected by the magnitude 6.9 earthquake.
"Immediately following the earthquake last night, I have been closely coordinating with the DPWH District Engineer of the 5th District, the Mayors of the 5th District, Board Members, and the DSWD Regional Director regarding the impact of the earthquake in the 5th District of Cebu," Rep. Frasco wrote in a Facebook post Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 1.
He shared that he landed in Cebu at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday aboard a C130 plane.
Also on the plane were Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Frasco, his wife; Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Gibo Teodoro; as well as Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Department of Health (DOH) officials.
Before this, at 9:11 a.m., Rep. Frasco said he reported to House Speaker Faustino "Bojie" Dy III the status of Cebu's 5th district and the actions taken so far.
The former House deputy speaker says he has requested a complete list of available equipment in the 5th district for deployment to emergency road clearing, debris removal, and structural inspections.
Rep. Frasco said he prioritized the road clearing and emergency response in Borbon, Sogod, Catmon, and Carmen.
He also sought inspections of all national roads, bridges, and government facilities to assess damages.
Specifically, Rep. Frasco said he coordinated with the district engineer for immediate mobilization of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and contractor equipment to affected areas.
He stressed urgency of clearing and repair works to restore access and allow emergency movement toward Bogo and Daanbantayan.
Rep. Frasco also said he coordinated with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regional director for immediate deployment of food packs and kits to displaced residents, with instructions to coordinate directly with the mayors of affected local government unit (LGUs).
