From actresses and beauty queens to P-pop stars, many have used their platforms to amplify the needs of Cebuanos and express their concern for affected communities.
Veteran actress Manilyn Reynes, a proud Cebuana, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, writing:
“Dear God, palihug, tabangi intawn ang tanan … Daghang salamat…”
Former Pinoy Big Brother housemate Shuvee Etrata, who hails from Bantayan Island, appealed for support for San Remigio — one of the towns hardest hit by the disaster. “Please include our province in your prayers,” she urged.
From the pageant world, Gazini Ganados and Bea Gomez, both with Cebu roots, posted infographics and resource links for donations and volunteer opportunities.
Kapamilya star Kim Chiu, who was in Cebu for a shoot when the quake struck, reassured fans with humor and gratitude.
Sharing a group photo from set, she captioned:
“Medyo blurred lang, may aftershock pa ata ’tong phone ko sa lindol.”
She later added: “Team Alibi marked safe from the earthquake in Cebu.”
Meanwhile, Cebu-based actress Kaye Abad assured friends and fans that her family was unharmed.
“To my friends who are asking kung kamusta kami, we are ok…” she wrote.
P-pop idol Aiah Arceta of BINI also expressed her concern:
“I may not be in Cebu right now but my heart goes out for the people who are affected.”
These messages of support come in the wake of the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck off the coast of Cebu on September 30.
