The province of Cebu is conducting relief operations following the magnitude-6.9 earthquake on Tuesday night.
Gov. Pamela Baricuatro arrived in Bogo City, near the epicenter of the earyhquake, on Wednesday morning to establish a joint operations center.
With her are food, medicine, and equipment not only for the city but also for neighboring towns.
A temporary command center has been established at the Capitol to coordinate streamlined emergency response with national agencies, including the Office of the President.
With Baricuatro are Capitol Piso Health Consultant Dr. Nikki Catalan and Provincial Administrator Ace Durano.
The Bogo City government is set to declare a state of calamity following the earthquake.
Bogo City was one of the hardest-hit areas and near the epicenter.
Rescue efforts are underway with responders and augmentation personnel.
The city government urged people to call 09456852435 for assistance.
Police Regional Office 7 Regional Director Police Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan said search and rescue teams have been deployed to assist victims and affected communities.
“Our personnel are on the ground conducting rescue and relief operations. We are closely coordinating with disaster response agencies to ensure timely assessment and assistance to those affected by this devastating earthquake,” he said.
