An e-trike driver operating in Antipolo City was duly recognized by the Antipolo City local government on Monday, Jan. 6, for his honesty in returning a bag that was left by his passenger inside his e-trike with P50,000 in it.
Antipolo City Mayor Jun Ynares personally handed out the check of P10,000 to the good samaritan named Francis who is the driver of Kalayaan TODA #319 e-trike.
Aside from the cash incentive, Francis was also given a certificate recognizing his good deed.
According to the mayor, the incident happened on Dec. 11 of last year when a senior citizen together with her grandchild rode on Francis' e-trike going home to their house after coming from a mall.
The senior citizen said she must have forgotten her handbag containing her money as she was busy attending to her grandchild and the cake they brought.
"Ngayong taon, paghugutan natin ng inspirasyon ang magandang halimbawa ni Kuya Francis. Lumaban ng patas, huwag maghangad ng bagay na hindi pinaghirapan, at manatiling tapat sa lahat ng panahon at pagkakataon (This year, let's make Kuya Francis' good deed as an inspiration to do good to others. We must fight fairly in life, never aspire to get something you didn't worked for, and remain honest and with integrity at all times)," Ynares said.
