The Quiapo Church called on all devotees participating in the Traslacion procession not to climb the "andas" or the carriage that carries the image of the Jesus Nazareno to avoid getting injuries.
Several devotees aim to get as close as possible to the revered image by climbing onto the andas.
However, the church and local authorities are emphasizing the need for safety, as such actions can lead to accidents and injuries.
In a statement released ahead of the feast, Quiapo Church officials explained that climbing the andas is both dangerous and disruptive to the procession.
The church stressed that the main focus of the event should be on prayer, reflection, and devotion, rather than physical proximity to the image of the Jesus Nazarene.
The church has also appealed to the public to follow the safety protocols set in place by the organizers, including maintaining a safe distance and being mindful of the well-being of others.
Health personnel have attended to several injured devotees, some of whom reportedly experienced dizziness, sustained wounds, and fainted.
Local authorities, volunteers, and church officials are expected to be present throughout the event to monitor the situation and help keep things running smoothly.
