The Quiapo Church has confirmed that the ropes connected to the carriage of Jesus Nazareno snapped during the annual Traslacion procession, causing a delay in its pace.

According to Silgen, the communication commander of the church, the first rope broke when the andas was passing from Finance Road to Ayala Boulevard.

By 8 p.m., he stated that both ropes were no longer attached to the andas, leading to a temporary disruption in the procession.

Despite the broken ropes, Silgen explained that the andas continued moving due to the devoted participants who helped pull and push the carriage along the route.

This has allowed the procession to proceed, albeit at a slower pace.

While the broken ropes contributed to the delay, Silgen pointed out that they were not the sole factor.

He also attributed the slower movement to the large number of devotees who participated this year.

"Di po natin masasabi dahil maraming deboto po ang dumagsa ngayong hapon. Ganda ng panahon at mga humabol galing kanilang trabaho sa ibang city bukod sa holiday ang Manila (We cannot really say that, as many devotees arrived this afternoon. The weather was good and some devotees came from their works outside the city)," he added.
