Our CES 2025 wish list

These are the products we want NOW

The annual Consumer Electronic Show (CES) is happening from January 7 to 10 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is anticipated worldwide for its exciting product launches and preview of upcoming innovations that can ultimately redefine the way we do many things. The first days of the spectacle have showcased the latest technological advancements in areas like entertainment, productivity, home living, health, among others.

But what gets consumers truly enthusiastic after seeing new things in the CES is the ability to acquire them right away. It’s not surprising to have buyers skip the holiday shopping rush and wait for the trade show offerings. Here are six products we wish we already own from this year’s CES.

  • Power banks. Tired of relying on illuminated dots to know the charge left in your portable power banks? Anker fits integrated real-time display on its two new chargers. The brand’s latest 165W power bank’s screen provides information on the battery health, temperature, and recharge time. Four devices can be charged simultaneously, with an extendable built-in USB-C cable that lets you charge on the go or move your devices with less limitations while you charge it. USB-A and USB-C ports are also available. The brand also launched a 140W wall charger with a touchscreen display of the power bank’s performance, such as is real-time output and details about the devices connected to its ports. According to the brand’s website, this power source can charge a “16-inch MacBook Pro to 50 percent in just 25 minutes using either the USB-C1 or USB-C2 port, each offering a maximum output of 140W.”  Four devices can be charged at the same time via one USB-A and three USB-C ports.

  • ‘Camera phone.’ Belkin’s Stage PowerGrip is getting a lot of attention online after its launch at this year’s CES. The power bank has MagSafe features that enable users of iPhone 12 and later to wirelessly connect via Bluetooth and take photos. Its shape and style instantly give the iPhone a classic camera look, especially with its shutter button. The 10,000mAh power bank has a USB-C port and built-in retractable USB-C cable, as well as a small screen that displays its available battery capacity. It will be offered in four colors (powder blue, fresh yellow, pepper, sandbox, and lavender) when it goes on sale this year.

  • A brand-new TV, of course. Samsung’s Neo QLED 8K QN990F specifically, please. The company describes its latest flagship television as the most advanced to-date with “smarter AI (artificial intelligence)-driven experiences.” With a NQ8 AI Gen3 Processor, viewers will experience AI features through the brand’s 8K AI Upscaling Pro that increases resolution to up to 8K quality, while the Color Booster Pro feature enriches color expression via AI-driven scene analysis and enhanced image processing, according to the company. In terms of sound, the television’s Adaptive Sound Pro technology will balance the audio of what is being viewed to a room’s acoustics. The Neo QLED 8K QN990F incorporates Samsung Vision AI, the brand’s vision to transform “screens into smart companions that enhance entertainment, simplify interactions and seamlessly integrate into connected lifestyles.” Users can use features such as “Click to Search” to access information instantly about the content they are watching, “Live Translate” for real-time subtitle translations, and the “Generative Wallpaper” that personalizes screens based on user preferences.

  • A laptop with an expanding screen. Lenovo’s ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable is perfect for those who do not like scrolling up and down repeatedly or simply love to multi-task. The screen of the laptop can “grow” from 14 inches to 16.7 inches with a press of a button or a hand gesture. The 14-inch laptop weighs 1.7kg, according to the brand’s site, and enables split-screen functionality. AI is present through features like Lenovo’s smart assistant called AI Now and Cocreator from Paint.

  • Robovac with arms. Robovacs do an incredible job of ridding the floor of dust, but they still sometimes require a pair of eyes when you’re the type to leave things around. Tissues and socks delay and obstruct the cleaning, and require you to fix the problem. Well, Roborock’s Saros Z70 can now do the picking up with its five-axis robot arms. It will handle anything in its way that weighs 300 grams and below with its OmniGrip feature. You can designate a place where it will drop off things it detects that are lying around.

  • A bring-anywhere TV.  Buyers of LG’s StanbyMe 27-inch TV can move their screens from room to room freely. The screen has 1440p picture resolution with the following adjustment options, says the brand: up to 180 degrees rotation, 130 degrees swivel, 50 degrees tilt, and 20-cm height adjustment. The unit’s battery lasts up to three hours on a single charge. While a stand with wheels is available to support the portable television, accessories like a strap are available to hang it on a wall as well. Content can be streamed from Apple products via AirPlay2 and LG’s HomeKit can turn the television on and off, control its volume, and switch inputs to the device.
