Mastermind in Eastman kidnapping nabbed

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police arrested on Monday, Jan. 7, the alleged mastermind in the kidnapping of American Elliot Eastman last Oct. 17.

The suspect was identified as Jackaira Jamaani, 35, from Sibuco municipality, Zamboanga Sibugay province.

He was arrested on a warrant for kidnapping and serious illegal detention in the sea between Basilan Strait and Zamboanga City.

The warrant was issued by Judge Anthony Isaw, acting presiding judge, Regional Trial Court Branch 27, Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte.

Police Regional Office-9 spokesperson Police Lt. Col. Ramoncelio Sawan said Jamaani faces cases for kidnapping and serious illegal detention with no bail recommended.

The suspect was taken to the Sibuco Municipal Police Station for booking procedures.
