Mark Magsayo could be landing the biggest fight of his career as he is being considered as a replacement opponent for reigning WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis.
Viva Promotions, headed by Brendan Gibbons, posted on Facebook that the Boholano pride could face Davis if Lamont Roach fails to show up for the March 1 bout at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
“Former WBC Champion Mark Magnifico Magsayo of MP Promotions has been revealed as a potential replacement opponent of Gervonta Davis,” it wrote on Wednesday, Jan. 8.
Davis holds an unblemished record of 30 wins highlighted by 28 knockouts.
Magsayo, meanwhile, has 27 wins against two losses.
Lamont Roach (25-1-1) is supposed to challenge Davis when the latter defends his WBA lightweight belt in March. However, some reports indicated that the Davis-Roach title match may get cancelled due to undetermined reasons.
