CAMP COL. RAFAEL. C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – Police arrested a 37-year-old man wanted for rape in Davao City on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
In a report to Police Regional Office-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Christopher C. Abrahano, Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Office Director Police Col. Warren E. Dablo said the suspect from Davao City was apprehended by the Santa Monica, Surigao del Norte Municipal Police Station in Barangay Doña Helen, Socorro town, Surigao del Norte province.
The suspect was arrested on a warrant for violating Republic Act No. 8353 or the Anti-Rape Law of 1997.
The warrant was issued by the Regional Trial Court, 11th Judicial Region, Branch 33, Davao City, on Dec. 28, 2024, with no bail recommended, Dablo said.
Abrahano and Dablo commended police for arresting the suspect.
“I commend the dedication of the operating units for their unwavering efforts and effective operations in apprehending this wanted individual from a nearby region," Abrahano said.
“This accomplishment is a testament to the commitment of the Surigao del Norte PPO to relentlessly pursue lawless elements,” Dablo said. “Finally, the victim will receive the justice she deserves."
PRO 13-Regional Public Information Office chief Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer said the suspect is under the custody of the Santa Monica MPS for proper disposition.
