Man arrested for killing, raping octogenarian

FLORIDABLANCA, Pampanga – Police arrested a 26-year-old man for raping and killing an 84-year-old woman in Barangay San Nicolas here on Saturday, Jan. 4.

Police Lt. Col. Julius Alvaro, Floridablanca chief of police, identified the suspect as Alexander.

Alvaro said the suspect entered the house of the victim, Reme, and took two cellphones and a wallet.

The suspect, who was drunk and under the influence of illegal drugs, molested the bedridden victim and stabbed her to death.

The suspect fled and the family of the victim reported the incident to barangay officials who sought the assistance of the police.

Lawmen apprehended the suspect in a follow-up operation. The stolen items were recovered from the suspect.

Police identified the suspect based on closed-circuit television camera footages. Lawmen said the suspect worked for the victim and knew his way in and out of the house.

Alexander admitted to the crime during questioning.

The suspect detained at the Floridablanca police station and faces robbery and rape with homicide cases.
