On its Facebook page, the DOH provided a list of reminders for participants before and during the event to help ensure their safety amid the celebration.

The DOH urged participants to bring only essential items, such as water, and to have a first-aid kit containing masks, sanitizer, and any necessary personal medicines.

Devotees were also encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and shoes. In case of rain, participants were advised to bring a raincoat.

Seek help

The DOH reminded participants to seek medical assistance if they feel unwell during the activity.

In particular, devotees were advised not to ignore symptoms such as dizziness and fatigue. “Maghanap ng pinakamalapit na DOH medical station (Look for the nearest DOH medical station),” the department said.

Participants were also encouraged to call for DOH medical staff to assist individuals feeling nauseous, those who fainted, or anyone in need of medical attention.

The DOH emphasized the importance of following reminders from the local government unit (LGU) and event organizers to ensure the feast and Traslacion proceed in an orderly manner.

Don’ts

The DOH issued specific warnings, including advising pregnant individuals and children not to join the activity.

Participants were also reminded not to bring pointed objects or any items that may cause harm to others.

“Huwag nang sumingit at sumampa sa andas (Do not force your way in or climb onto the carriage),” the DOH said.

Additionally, people who have consumed alcohol were discouraged from participating.

Code White

In preparation for this year’s celebration, the DOH declared “Code White” from Jan. 6 to 10.

This ensures that medical personnel and facilities in the National Capital Region (NCR) and nearby areas, including Central Luzon and Calabarzon, are ready to respond to emergencies.

The DOH noted that 201 personnel from the Health Emergency Response Team (HERT) of its 20 hospitals in Metro Manila will be on standby to provide emergency assistance if needed.
