The victim was taken to the Tacloban City Hospital on Jan. 4 after experiencing symptoms consistent with severe dehydration. Despite efforts by medical personnel, Jane succumbed to her condition.

The attending physician confirmed the cause of death as hypovolemic shock secondary to severe dehydration. Food poisoning was also noted as a possible contributing factor.

Initial reports disclosed that the victim, along with friends, attended a friend’s birthday party in Barangay Cavite East. She reportedly ate mushrooms that allegedly caused the poisoning.

Police said that they are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and identify any potential liabilities.
