The Southern Police District (SPD) deployed 1,500 officers to help ensure the safety and security of millions of devotees participating in the Feast of the Jesus Nazareno 2025.
The deployment reflects the SPD's commitment to protecting the public during one of the Philippines' most significant religious events.
SPD director Brig. Gen. Manuel Abrugena emphasized the importance of the occasion, saying, “the Feast of the Black Nazarene is a celebration of faith, hope, and unity—a testament to the devotion of Filipinos from all walks of life. As police officers, our role is to maintain peace and order while ensuring every devotee can participate safely and without fear.”
Abrugena urged SPD personnel deployed to approach their duties with empathy and humility, keeping in mind the event's deep spiritual meaning.
“Be resolute yet compassionate, vigilant yet approachable, and above all, stay true to our core values of service, honor, and justice,” he advised.
