The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday, Jan. 7, that most of the country will experience generally fair weather over the next few days, though isolated rain showers are still possible in some areas.

PAGASA Weather Specialist Rhea Torres noted that no low-pressure areas or tropical cyclones are expected to develop within or near the country’s area of responsibility in the coming days.

She said the northeast monsoon (amihan) will continue to affect Northern and Central Luzon, bringing cloudy skies and light to moderate rains, particularly in Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora in the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the shear line, which forms when cold winds from the amihan collide with warm winds from the easterlies, will bring rainy conditions to Quezon Province, with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms expected.

PAGASA warned that areas affected by the amihan and shear line may experience flash floods and landslides due to the expected rainfall.

In Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, and the rest of Central Luzon, only isolated light rains are expected, as partly cloudy to cloudy skies will prevail.

The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA also reminded the public to remain vigilant for flash floods and landslides during severe thunderstorms.
